- A couple of weeks ago, at the conclusion of a vibrant and uplifting praise and worship service at the Empowerment Temple AME Church in Baltimore, a middle-aged woman approached me and asked, “Are you gay?”
“Yes,” I reluctantly responded.
“I’ve spoken to God. If you don’t leave the men, you are going to hell,” she concluded, before swiftly exiting the sanctuary.
