YouTube Restricted Mode Now Playing Non-Graphic LGBTQ Content
- YouTube has announced it will start playing more videos in Restricted Mode, including non-graphic LGBTQ content and anti-discriminatory statements.
The update refreshes content that talks about relevant but tough topics in a softer tone and non-graphic way.
YouTube’s Restricted Mode blocks mature content for kids and students alike. It also limits access in public areas such as libraries.
YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki says the update includes new content previously flagged by the filters. She notes that they never meant to block these content from kids.
The Google-owned company adds that it will continue to filter out sexual content, violence and offensive language. But 12 million new videos, including hundreds of thousands of LGBTQ content, are now accessible in Restricted Mode.
